5 Graduating FX Academy Students Commit to Collegiate Baseball Programs

St. Francis Xavier Baseball Academy is proud to announce that 5 of our graduating students have committed to collegiate baseball programs for the 2016-17 season:

Kobe Hyland (Spruce Grove, AB – Shortstop) – Kobe signed a NJCAA National Letter of Intent and accepted a scholarship to attend Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Kobe is expected to be a top candidate to win the starting shortstop job this fall.

IWCC is a perennial contender to win the NJCAA World Series every season. The Reivers have won the NJCAA championship three times in 2010, 2012, & 2014 in Grand Junction, Colorado. We wish Kobe the best of luck with the Reivers this fall!

Dakota Wheatley (Bawlf, AB – 1st Baseman) – Dakota signed a CCBC Letter of Intent to attend the Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge, AB. Dakota will be attending Lethbridge College while working towards making the Varsity team in the spring.

The PBA Dawgs have won 6 consecutive CCBC championships and have a strong history of moving graduates to collegiate programs south of the border. We wish Dakota the best of luck with the Dawgs this fall!

Jesse Poniewozik (Spruce Grove, AB – RHP) – Jesse signed a CCBC Letter of Intent to attend Okanagan College in Kelowna, BC.

The Coyotes are a well-established program in the Canadian Baseball Collegiate Conference and Jesse should be a strong contributor to the pitching staff. We wish Pony the best of luck with his career with the OC Coyotes!

Darrin Reay (Sherwood Park, AB – LHP) – Darrin signed a CCBC Letter of Intent to attend Okanagan College in Kelowna, BC.

Darrin will join teammate Jesse Poniewozik in the Okanagan this fall where he should be a strong contributor to the Coyotes pitching staff. We wish Darrin the best of luck in his career with the OC Coyotes!

Austin Doris (Valleyview, AB – OF) – Austin signed a NJCAA National Letter of Intent and accepted a roster spot at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, North Dakota.

The Royals compete in Region 13 of the NJCAA. Austin will have the opportunity to contribute to this relatively new collegiate baseball program as they look to build for the future. We wish Austin the best of luck with the Royals this fall!
